Vusa Mkhaya ‘humbled’ after winning Vienna’s first ever Willi Resetarits Preis Apr 21, 2024 Zimbabwe’s Bulawayo global star Vusa Mkhaya has said he feels humbled and excited after he was awarded the inaugural recipient of the Willi Resetarits Preis for Artistic originality and Social Commitment. Speaking exclusively to 3-mob.com from his Austrian base, he said, “It feels so good to be recoginised by people you don’t even know, and this award, there as no submission or anything. “The fact that a jury of eight people sat down and decided to nominate me or to give me the prize, humbles me. In a foreign land. I am excited. I am happy. And it gives me encouragement to work harder and to keep on working.” The ceremony took place on 20th April at the Fluchtlingsball in Vienna. The Award was established by the city of Vienna in honour of Willi Resetaritis and was first announced in 2023. Resetaritis was an Austrian singer, comedian and human rights activist. It will be an annual award, celebrating musical personalities or brands with a strong commitment to social causes. Mkhaya has been an integral part of Vienna’s arts and culture scene for three decades. #KwiriTalksTo… Vusa Mkhaya On this episode celebrated Bulawayo-born superstar Vusa Mkhaya shares his musical journey, from the long journey with Insingizi, working with Hans Zimmer and the late Cal Vin.
